A workplace assessment is a review of the physical and organisational working conditions. A specialist assesses seating, screen, lighting, keyboard and mouse as well as workload, and compiles the result in a written report with a risk assessment.

The employer is obliged to investigate and assess risks in the work environment under AFS 2023:1 on systematic work environment management, and AFS 2023:10 sets requirements for how the workplace is designed. A workplace assessment is the most common way to meet and document those requirements.
